About this Job
In this role you will be the chief legal advisor to the Senate of Canada. In this capacity, you will provide bilingual (advanced proficiency in both official languages) legal advice and services to the Senate, Senate committees, the Speaker and Senators to support them in the performance of their parliamentary functions.
You will also be overseeing and providing direction to the development and implementation of the Law Clerk’s Office’s ongoing strategic and operational plans, priorities, and resourcing requirements to ensure that the Senate, Senate Committees, the Speaker and Senators are provided with sound, impartial and expert legal advice and services in delivering their institutional responsibilities. In addition to being responsible for the Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel, you will also have accountability for providing oversight to the management of the Senate’s Human Resources function and programs.
